2008-2009 Ferne Gibson Scholarship
Mr. Scottie Hooper-- winner of the National Creative Society's 2008-2009 Ferne Gibson Scholarship in the Performing Arts-- is pictured (center) with Ferne Gibson (left) and his aunt Scarlene Hebard (right). Scottie was a member of the NCS chapter at Pepperell High School, Floyd County, Georgia. Scottie performed with the Pepperell Band and the community orchestra The Northwest Georgia Winds as a clarinetist. He will continue his post-secondary studies at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. The scholarship is named in honor of educator and administrator Ferne Gibson who was an early founder and first Executive Director of the National Creative Society.

Thespian Stephanie Hogg of Whitewater High School, Fayetteville, Georgia, was the winner of the CD: The Ride of John Wisdom (the "Paul Revere of the South").
Thespian Amanda Roberts of Starr's Mill HIgh School, Fayetteville, Georiga, was the winner of the national prize-winning book, The Stone Promise written and illustrated by, then, fifteen year-old Cara Reichel.
Both gifts are excellent additions to any school's media center and are available by contacting the National Creative Society.
